This program is housed within the Office of Child Development in the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education. P.R.I.D.E.’s goal is to help black children better feel good about their skin color and proud of their heritage by connecting with the adults in their life. The aim is to help parents, educators, professionals, and the community understand how race impacts children. The program also provides these adults with the resources to enhance their ability to talk to children about race through speakers, art festivals, and more. P.R.I.D.E. works in the neighborhoods of East Liberty, Homewood, and the Hill District in Pittsburgh.
