Early Head Start (EHS) Services through the Office of Child Development provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income families with children ranging from birth to age three. Family Foundations is a program through the University of Pittsburgh’s Early Head Start Grant, specifically operating in high-risk neighborhoods in surrounding neighborhoods: Clairton site and East end site; Sto-Rox site; Hill District site; Northside site; and the Tri-Boro site. Families will receive weekly home visits and participation in socializations throughout the year.This program uses the Partnerships for Health Baby Curriculum as a model. Reported experiences during the home visits include the following, yet are not limited to providing developmental guidance, identifying and providing beneficial resources, providing support for social and emotional needs, etc. This program provides multiple avenues of mental health support and treatment referrals for families, which helps parents focus on fostering positive relationships with their children.
