The SPIN Project, funded by NIDA, focuses on understanding the impact of neighborhood environments on the health of youth of color. Using mobile technology, this project engages youth in identifying safe and risky spaces in their neighborhood to explore the relationship between these spaces, stress and substance use. The project includes daily surveys, baseline, immediate follow-up, and 6-month follow-up surveys. The project is currently in the 6-month follow-up phase analyzing data, preparing for community forums, and developing HYPE Media, a youth-led literacy program aiming to reshape neighborhood narratives for community change.
