Kathryn Reed (University of Pittsburgh Alumna) launched the first ever National Society of Black Physicians Assistants (NSBPA). The NSBPA consists of a group of Certified Physician Assistants (PAs) who recognize the lack of diversity in the field and the unique challenges many Black Physician Assistant students, and practicing PAs, face. Some of the organizations goals include diversifying the Physician Assistant student body, developing and maintaining a national community of Black Physician Assistants, educate black communities, and improve health outcomes in all communities with an emphasis on Black communities.
