This article argues that the racialization of COVID-19 is dangerous and harmful. Claims of Black immunity or the association of the virus with specific races are not only inaccurate but also obscure the social determinants of health that truly impact the spread of the disease. The authors emphasize that COVID-19 does not discriminate and that the most vulnerable populations, which often have high representation of Black and brown individuals, will be disproportionately affected. They urge people to avoid racializing diseases and instead focus on addressing the social factors that contribute to unequal health outcomes.
