This resource focuses on challenging the “victim narratives” assigned to the youth due to their race, gender, class, etc. and how we can better challenge them moving forward by implementing creative, radical, and social-justice-oriented services. This study uses data collected from adolescents in six adult-supported youth activism community programs in Pittsburgh to investigate what the youth learned after developing critical consciousness. The findings of the study suggest that the young children developed increased social-, self-, and global awareness, while also learning additional important skills, like interpersonal skills.
