About Us

This initiative is a collaboration between the United Nations Permanent Forum on People of African Descent (UNPFPAD), the Center on Civil Rights and Racial Justice (CCRJ), University of Pittsburgh, the Center on Race and Social Problems (CRSP), and the David C. Frederick Honors College (FHC). This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive racial equity database to support the development of a vision-rich, globally comprehensive database.

Emerging from a dialogue between visionary leaders, including Ron Idoko and Justin Hansford, the Database is a free, open-access global repository designed to unify and amplify efforts to combat systemic racism. By systematically organizing diverse resources and initiatives, it aims to foster meaningful connections and facilitate coordinated global action. The launch event will not only introduce the Database but also serve as a critical milestone in refining the platform ahead of its global deployment.

Our Mission

The Racial Equity Consciousness Database exists to combat systemic racism by serving as an accessible, comprehensive platform that advances racial equity across all sectors. Through strategic partnerships and curated resources spanning criminal justice, healthcare, housing, education, and beyond, we empower communities, elevate awareness, and catalyze meaningful action to dismantle systemic inequities.

Our Vision

RECD envisions a world where all people experience racial equity and justice, supported by a global network of accessible resources and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By fostering collaboration and representation, RECD aims to inspire meaningful social change that confronts systemic racism, bridges disparities, and builds a more just society for present and future generations.
