Cure Violence East is a team of community residents from Wilkinsburg, Homewood, Penn Hills and East Hills who are working daily to interrupt violence in the Pittsburgh area. This organizations mission is to use a rigorous, scientific, and data-driven approach to significantly reduce violence in these areas. This team works to detect and interrupt any potentially violent conflicts, identify and treat those at risk, and mobilize the community to change norms. The goal of Cure Violence East is to reduce residents’ of Eastern Allegheny County risk of losing loved ones to fun violence.
