The drug supply chain is global and susceptible to disruptive unanticipated events, such as the 2019 Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but the impact of drug shortages during a global public health emergency and effectiveness of strategies to alleviate drug shortages is unknown. This AHRQ-funded R01 research project will give policymakers real world evidence to plan for future global emergencies, drug shortages at large, and inform national- and international-policy to decrease the impact of drug shortages on patient outcomes.
